1. Before You Begin – Site Preparation
✔ Check Site Levels & Foundations
Ensure the slab or piers are set out correctly and fully cured.
- Check tolerances
- Confirm waterproofing
- Ensure anchor points are in place
✔ Review Your Plans
Every project includes a full set of installation drawings and identification labels on each frame segment.
✔ Safety Requirements
Wear PPE: gloves, boots, eye protection, and follow site WHS rules.
2. Handling & Storage of Steel Frames
✔ Keep Frames Elevated
Store on timber gluts or a clean, dry surface.
✔ Protect Coating
TRUECORE® steel is corrosion‑resistant, but surfaces should be kept free from:
- Mud
- Chemicals
- Wet cement
✔ Manual Handling
Lightweight steel allows two people to safely lift most wall frames.
3. Wall Frame Installation
✔ Step 1: Positioning Walls
Place frames according to the plan layout.
- Start with external corners
- Use chalk lines for accuracy
✔ Step 2: Fixing to Slab or Floor System
Anchor frames using:
- Expansion anchors
- Ramset anchors
- Pre‑engineered connectors
✔ Step 3: Plumbing & Squaring
Check:
- Vertical plumb
- Horizontal alignment
- Diagonal measurements
✔ Step 4: Temporary Bracing
Install bracing straps or temporary props to stabilise walls until roof trusses are fixed.
4. Roof Truss Installation
✔ Step 1: Identify and Position Trusses
Each truss is labelled for:
- Location
- Type
- Orientation
✔ Step 2: Lift and Place Trusses
Use mechanical lifting for large spans.
Set trusses on top plates and secure them temporarily.
✔ Step 3: Permanent Fixing
Fix trusses with:
- Truss brackets
- Multi-grip connectors
- Cyclone-rated tie-downs (where required)
✔ Step 4: Install Top Chords, Battens & Bracing
This step ensures long-term structural stability.
5. Floor Joists & Flooring Systems
✔ Step 1: Set Out Joists
Follow spacing outlined in engineering drawings (generally 450mm or 600mm centres).
✔ Step 2: Fix Joist Hangers or Brackets
Ensure all mechanical fixings match the engineering schedule.
✔ Step 3: Install Floor Sheets or Systems
Particleboard, plywood or fibre‑cement sheets can be installed using:
- Adhesive
- Screws
- Approved flooring fasteners
6. Electrical & Plumbing Services
All frames come with pre‑punched service holes, making installation fast and clean.
- Use grommets where required
- Follow NCC and electrical codes
- Avoid cutting structural members (unless approved)
7. Final Checks Before Cladding
✔ Check Frame Alignment
Walls must be straight, square and plumb.
✔ Install Bracing & Tie‑Downs
Ensure all cyclone or wind‑rated fixings are completed.
✔ Confirm Engineering Sign-off
A licensed builder or engineer should verify the installation before lining and cladding.
8. Installation Tips for Best Performance
- Do not grind steel frames (use metal-cutting tools)
- Keep steel dry and clean during installation
- Replace scratched surfaces with approved touch-up solutions
- Always follow the supplied installation manual
